It's about time!

My first blog. . .whooohoo for me! I never thought that I would ever join one of these things. . but I've finally been motivated!

I've been motivated by this thing called "coolness".

So how did this all start you ask?
Well, I'm in my final quarter of my MBA program and I'm taking a Brand Culture class. This week, our topic of discussion was branding and coolness. And of course with any marketing class, you're reading tons and tons of articles relating to the topic at hand.

**Side note - after this weeks class, I even considered getting my PhD in Business Administartion - might want to do some research in this area - but will have to get back to you on that.**

When I refer to coolness, I'm using a pretty simple definition: Doing something that nobody else is doing.

Eventually, everyone catches on to this coolness thing and when that happens, that which was cool is no longer cool.

Therefore - coolness is short lived and there are a limited amount of cool people.

If you've ever taken a marketing class than you're probably familiar with the following terms:
Innovators - the adventurous ones
Early Adopters - the slightyl larger group that follows the innovators
Early Majority and Late Majority - the deliberate and skeptical masses who don't try anything until the risk factor has been eliminated
Laggards - someone who takes more time than necessary to accept an idea

Coolness comes from the Innovators who also represent a very small percentage of the population.

With all of this being said, I have decided to pursue a new side hustle. I am now a certified coolhunter. :)

Coolhunting is a collectionof spontaneous observations and predictions that differ from one moment to the next and one coolhunter to the next.

Unfortunately I'm not a 24 x 7 jet-setter (at least not yet), so at this time, my coolhunting will be limited to my immediate surroundings.

So come back periodically and see what kind of coolness is out there!

Ayo this is awesome. You go girl. You know my blog's headline is Style Your Inner Cool. Hope i make it on your coolhunter list. In the meantime, you might enjoy this read. Chasing Cool by Noah Kerner and Gene Pressman. Here is what they have to say about cool
How do we make this thing cool? Is the burning issue of our time. Everyone it seems, especially people with a brand to manage, wants to be cool.
Why? Simple: Cool cuts through. It’s the ultimate point of difference. When brands evoke the characteristic of cool they are more likely to stand out in today’s cluttered marketplace
Cool sells
Young people gravitate toward it; older people covet it because it makes them feel young even if they can’t define what “cool” actually means.

We believe that cool is not the outcome of a chase but rather the province of a tasteful visionary who maintains a personal, authentic point of view

Cool hunting sounds cool and I look forward to your observations and predictions. Have you read Malcom Gladwell's "The Tipping Point"? It's a good book with insights related to cool hunting
